Blended-Short-Term-Mobility
A new type of stay in the Erasmus+ programme is known as Blended Short-Term Mobility. It enables funding for short-term mobility at Erasmus partner universities in a hybrid format, i.e. a combination of a short physical stay and a compulsory digital learning component that takes place before, after or during (accompanying, not interrupting) the physical stay.
Who is eligible for funding?
Within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, students from all degree programmes at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (THB) are eligible for funding.
Only students who are aiming for a degree at the THB can receive funding; exchange students are excluded from Erasmus funding via the THB (Erasmus students can ask their home university whether funding via their home university would be possible).
What is funded?
Short-term stays at Erasmus partner universities that meet the following requirements:
- Physical stay of 5–30 days combined with a mandatory virtual learning component that takes place before, after or during the physical stay
- The partner university awards at least 3 ECTS credits for the entire stay (physical and virtual)
- Physical and virtual components must be successfully completed
Scope of funding
- Days 1–14 of physical mobility: €79/day
- Day 15 - 30 of physical mobility €56/day
- Additionally: Funded travel days (as required/necessary) up to 2 days in total for standard travel (return journey), up to 6 days in total (return journey) for sustainable travel (e.g. train, long-distance bus, carpool)
- Students also receive a travel allowance based on the distance to their destination and type of travel (standard travel or green travel):
- 10 - 99 km €28 (€56 for *green travel*)
- 100 - 499 km €211 (€285 for *green travel*)
- 500 - 1999 km €309 (for *green travel* €417)
- 2000 - 2999 km €395 (for *green travel* €535)
- 3000 - 3999 km €580 (for *green travel* €785)
- 4000 - 7999 km €1,188 (for *green travel* €1,188)
- Over 8000 km €1,735 (for *green travel* €1,735)
- Link to distance calculator
- Students with a GdB (degree of disability) of over 20, chronic illness, with children or first-time academics can apply for the additional amount for *lower opportunities*: €100 one-off (or a one-off payment of €150 for mobility between 15 and 30 days)
Funding is currently provided by the Erasmus Project 2025 and according to the relevant eligibility criteria. Any adjustments for funding from Project 2026 will be made once the funds from the Erasmus Project 2025 have been exhausted.
Application process
There is no application deadline; funds are allocated on an ongoing basis. Whether funding is granted depends on the available budget and the number of applicants. If you are interested, please contact the International Office at THB, preferably with approximately two months' notice.
Documents
For study-related mobility, the relevant Erasmus+ documents must be completed, which will be provided to you by the THB International Office after you have submitted your application. These include:
Before departure
- Confirmation from the partner university of participation in the programme (letter of acceptance)
- Current certificate of enrolment from THB
- THB safety briefing
- Learning agreement
- Solemn declaration for travel days and additional amount for *lower chances*
- Erasmus grant agreement
Once all documents have been submitted, 80% of the allocated mobility grant will be paid out before the start of the stay abroad.
During the stay abroad
The stay abroad must be confirmed on site by the host university. To this end, a Letter of Confirmation must be completed and signed by the host university.
After your return
Within the first four weeks after your return, you must submit the following documents to the International Office at THB:
- Letter of Confirmation
- Certificate from the host university stating the ECTS credits achieved
- EU Survey
- Experience report
Once all the necessary documents have been completed, you will receive the remaining 20% of your grant.
Find blended short-term mobilities
Blended short-term mobilities include, for example, excursions with a virtual component with THB lecturers at Erasmus partner universities or summer/winter schools with a virtual component at THB Erasmus partner universities.
